Nicole Jones

Nicole Jones is an artist and writer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her work, primarily in painting and portraiture, explores themes of identity and community. She is currently studying for an MA in Fine Art at the University of Edinburgh. She has been writing and publicly speaking about issues surrounding sex, gender, and feminism since 2016. In 2018, she co-founded the campaigning group For Women Scotland; in 2020, she founded XX, a network for young gender-critical feminists.

“The material reality of sex informs women’s lives and shapes our experiences. The replacement of biological sex with ‘gender identity’ will have significant implications for women across all areas of life, including law, medicine, science, sport, data collection, relationships, and safeguarding. To deny sex is to erase women as a meaningful class. Sex matters because women matter.”
