<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Committed to the protected belief that biological sex is binary and immutable and matters for both women and men in our everyday lives, including for our rights and needs in the workplace, and must not be conflated with, or replaced by, the concepts of gender or gender identity.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Focuses on challenging sex discrimination and upholding rights and protections that relate to sex, recognising that this sometimes requires treating women and men differently, according to our different rights and needs.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Aims to: </p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>advocate to private-sector firms the importance of properly understanding, protecting and appropriately balancing everyone’s human rights in their workplaces</li>



<li>help employers promote diversity of voices, open and respectful dialogue and tolerance between those with differing beliefs and experiences</li>



<li>be a source of expertise for all private sector employees on the protected characteristics of sex, pregnancy and maternity and sexual orientation.  </li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Founded in 2022 as the first sex equality and equity network, Civil Service SEEN is a cross-government staff network committed to promoting and supporting sex equality and equity in the workplace. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The group is for UK civil servants and public-sector staff – from central and devolved government departments, agencies, and their associated public bodies including arm’s length bodies.</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Focuses on challenging sex discrimination and upholding rights and protections that relate to sex,  recognising that this sometimes requires treating women and men differently, according to our different rights and needs.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Formed in May 2024, SEEN in Health is a staff network for all NHS employees and staff delivering NHS services from NHS locations. To join, you must have an email addresses from an eligible official organisation.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The network is committed to promoting and supporting sex equality and equity in NHS workplaces, while upholding the NHS Constitution.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It aims to create an environment where staff can discuss issues related to the protected characteristic of sex and speak up for themselves and for patients, and where the specific sex-based needs of different staff and patient groups are represented in internal NHS discourse.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">SEEN in Health believes that: </p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>every patient has the right to receive evidence-based care, free from ideological bias, and consideration of sex is essential for NHS staff to be able to deliver that</li>



<li>information for patients should use medically accurate terms which can be understood by all</li>



<li>there should be no hierarchy of rights and the NHS should comply with its public sector equality duty.</li>
</ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">SEEN in Health will facilitate the creation of local NHS SEEN staff networks to work with existing networks.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Aims to uphold the sex-based rights enshrined in the Equality Act 2010, including same-sex spaces, and the protected characteristics of pregnancy and maternity, and sexual orientation.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Offers information, resources and support to enable individuals and groups to undertake their own action and lobbying within their own local-authority employer.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Helps local authority staff feel confident to <a href="https://www.coe.int/en/web/human-rights-convention/our-rights">exercise their rights</a>, including freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom of expression, and freedom of assembly and association. </p>
