Michael Foran
Lecturer in public law
Michael is an academic and writer. Much of his writing has focused on explaining the law relating to sex and gender.
He writes for UnHerd, The Critic, The Times, The Telegraph, Holyrood magazine and the Scottish Legal News, and has been interviewed for the BBC’s News and Anti-Social, STV, SpectatorTV, Holyrood Sources, and more.
He is a lecturer in public law at the University of Glasgow. He holds a PhD in law from the University of Cambridge, a MSc in law and anthropology from the LSE and an LLB from Trinity College Dublin. His first book, Equality Before the Law (Hart 2023), is based on his doctoral thesis, which won the Yorke Prize from the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge. His second book, Sex, Gender Identity, and the Law, will be published by Cambridge University Press in 2025.
