Send ‘Time to Think’ to the people who need to read it

Hannah Barnes’ book Time to Think is a forensic examination of the care provided to vulnerable young people at the NHS’s flagship gender clinic for children. The book exposes how safeguarding concerns got lost as professionals came under pressure to affirm children’s identity and prescribe puberty blockers.

It is meticulously evidenced based on internal documents, legal testimonies and hundreds of hours of interviews with clinicians, patients and parents.

The Tavistock’s Gender Identity Service is now closing, but the pressures that led to it putting thousands of children onto an experimental medical pathway have not abated. The government is considering a new law to outlaw “conversion therapy” which risks making it even harder for therapists to question a child’s self-diagnosis.

We want to make sure that the book is read by senior leaders of the medical schools that have signed up to the GLADD Medical Schools Charter and of the professional bodies that have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Conversion Therapy in the UK.
