Support this landmark legal case

We need to raise £20,000 to support our intervention in the For Women Scotland appeal.

Maya Forstater stands in front of the Supreme Court with our intervention

Alongside the Equality and Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International UK, Sex Matters is scheduled to intervene in the For Women Scotland appeal, FWS v Scottish Ministers, which is being heard in the UK Supreme Court on 26th to 27th November 2024.

We argue that term “sex” in the Equality Act (and man/woman and male/female) must have its natural meaning, and that it was intended to protect people from discrimination based on sex and gender reassignment as separate characteristics. This approach is consistent with protecting everyone’s human rights. Read our written intervention and others.

We are the only civil-society intervenor given permission to present both oral and written submissions, and are represented by Ben Cooper KC and Scottish barrister David Welsh. We need to raise £20,000 towards these costs.
