Financial services pioneer
Sam Bussey started her career in the City in the mid-1980s when there were very few women working in the financial markets. Her career has been varied and included a career break to pursue personal training and gym management. She also spent some time road-managing a comedian before returning to financial services in 2011. She is a keen distance cyclist, and has tackled some of the biggest cycling challenges in Europe. She is also a novice triathlete and an enthusiastic tennis and netball player.
“As a woman working in a very male-dominated environment I have always been aware of the huge differences and disparities between men and women. Throughout my career I have advocated for equality, equity and diversity in the workplace. As a gay woman I am concerned about the importance of preserving the definition of same-sex attraction. As a keen sportswoman I am passionate about protecting women’s sport.”
