We wrote to express our dismay at the questioning of Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson during her appointment hearing for the position of chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and the decision not to endorse her appointment, but to invite the Minister for Women and Equalities to re-open the recruitment process.
That minister, Bridget Phillipson, later proceeded with the appointment.
